The "Collezione Peggy Guggenheim" is collecting avant-garde masterpieces dating to the first half of XX century, assembled by heiress Peggy Guggenheim between 1938 and 1847 in London, Paris, New York and exhibited to the 1948 Biennale for the first time.
During the same year Peggy Guggenheim also bought Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, an unfinished palace attributed to the architect Lorenzo Boschetti (1749), where she lived for 30 years, opening it to visitors as a museum since 1951. In 1976 she gave the palace and the collection to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, which presently runs it together with the other Guggenheim museums In New York, Bilbao and Berlin.
